Multi-Dimensional Characterization Lab

The Multi-Dimensional Characterization Lab (MDCL) is an open access, ‘one stop shop’ facility supporting novel, advanced research activities within UNT, with other universities, and with local, state and national industries. MDCL maintains and operates more than a dozen instruments for cross-disciplinary analysis, including true 3-D characterization of materials and devices down to atomic length scales. These instruments, such as the FIB/SEM, HRTEM and LEAP, create a unique combination of capabilities in one location. UNT is among an elite group of public institutions nationwide that offer this complement of facilities.

In 2012 MDCL was moved into a new 5500 sq. ft. space that physically centralized MDCL functions and co-located it with a clean room. This centralization of instruments and facilities allows for the seamless and contiguous transfer of novel materials and devices synthesized in the Nanofabrication Clean Room directly to advanced characterization instruments in MDCL. You may also schedule an appointment using the Online Scheduler.
